Second Elective: Print

So it's the second day of print and I'm really enjoying it so far.

We got the brief on friday. The theme is "urban". We were asked to bring 10 photos in for Monday morning. As we only had a weekend to take 10 urban photos, that would work for print, I was pretty freaked by the lack of time but I managed. I took all my photos while waiting an hour at the bus station in Cork City on friday evening. I didn't realize at the time but i had taken over 10 photos. All I had to do then was pick the ones i preferred the most.

When we came in on monday we met Des our tutor for the next two weeks. We put up our photos and went down to the print room for a demonstration. We saw dry-prints and mono-prints, hopefully i'm calling them the right names.

Today i started my first dry-print. I am starting off with a basic print so i can get the hang of using the materials such as scribes, acetate, printing press, inks...

This is my favourite photo!

Workin Away :)

So i'm working away. I've decided I am doing the groceries one at the moment. I'm doing it in a stop-motion type of way. I still need to do my story-board but I have actually made a 1 minute-ish video on it already.

I might do the moving into a room and routine of morning/deciding what to wear as well but i'l see how long this groceries one takes :)

Video

So I've been brain storming and researching  the last few hours and i have come up with some ideas such as...

  • Pictures of drawings telling a story.
  • Getting up in the morning... light changing... routine.
  • Changing Sky.
  • A space/room being moved into.
  • Groceries being shopped for ...unpacked...stored.
  • Tea/Coffee being made.
  • Picking out what to wear/ how to do hair.
I like some of them a lot but I think I will keep thinking of more ideas.

I also remembered a selection of photos I took of the graffiti on the canal walk nearby a few weeks ago. I decided to test out video making with these images so here it is! :)

First Elective: Photography and Lens Based Media

Hello Bloggie :)
So assessment went good I think! Only thing I did wrong was accidentally deleting one of my posts. I did it on the mobile app thinking I was deleting a draft but then I saw one of my posts zapped off the screen. I didn't even see which one it was but anyway, onward and upward!

Now I'm on my two weeks of Photography and Lens Based Media and I just got the brief today! Basically we have to produce a 3 minute video piece composed entirely of still images. We were shown this really interesting short film (well it's 30 mins) called "La Jetée" by Chris Marker.

Here it is actually,

So i'm going to get going! :)
